Protection Through Manifestation

At this point you have learned to recognize your own energy as well as detect the presence of foreign energy. You have called your core and raised energy for magickal workings. So what do you do with it? There are an abundance of different types of Magick. Many use specific words and symbols, require you to burn specific herbs and call specific spirits or deities. Those are all great methods. The spells, rituals, and ceremonies of what I call Rite Magick ( Magick using a specific set of predestined steps that must be followed )are potent, useful magickal tools that even a beginner can usual work there way through with a little practice and preparation. I will do my best to teach you at least the basics of many of these forms of Magick. But there are other types of Magick, too. Taoism teaches that the world around us is a reflection of our mind. That all of reality is an illusion, a thought made manifest. Much of Magick gives evidence to this belief. The idea of willing something into being is a form of taoist practice.

Now what exactly does it mean to will something into being? You\’ve probably heard the expression in movies and tv shows, but what does it mean? Do you just say something and it happens? No that\’s not enough. You may have heard \”you have to believe it\” and that\’s getting warmer, but it\’s still not quite enough. As it turns out, it\’s pretty similar to the idea of faith that is found in some religions. To will something into existence, you have to believe it will happen, but moreso, you have to know that it will happen. In your mind, it must already be a fact, not even a question. That\’s still not quite enough, but when you can begin to trick your psyche into accepting something as truth, you\’ve got the first step. The next part is to feed that knowledge.

You\’ve raised your energy. You know the thing will happen. Now you must push the energy into it that causes it to happen. This is called Manifestation. Now the reality is that this seems a lot like pretend. This is true. But I prefer to think of it as repositioning reality. It\’s like pretend, but with steroids and a blank checkbook.

To practice manifestation, we will start protection. This is the most important price of Magick you will ever use and should be at the start of nearly any magickal act you perform. Start by calling your core and raising your energy. Once you feel adequately charged, you are going to see a distortion in the air all around you. As if looking through the bending waves of heat, you will see a wavy bubble forming around you, a couple feet in all directions. You know that this distortion is a magickal forcefield. It is a barrier that protects the inside from any harmful energy coming from the outside. Extend your right hand, fingers spread out. Touch the tips of your fingers to the distortion. Watch as the energy in your core begins to slowly move through your right shoulder and down your right arm. As it does, the energy in your left arm flows into the core, keeping you fully charged. The glow passes down your right arm and out through your right hand. As it meets the barrier, it pools out, spreading along the barrier to surround you. The merging of your energy and the barrier seems to multiply the power, causing the glow to grow bright. If your core has sparks of electricity or fiery crackling, this also passes on to the barrier. When the barrier has been fully charged with your energy, you may lower your right hand. Feel safe. Feel protected. Know that nothing will get through this barrier unless you permit it.

You may return any energy in your right arm to your core. Any energy in your left arm may be released back into the air. You are now protected with your first ever barrier. What you see and feel maybe different than what I have described and that\’s okay. Like I said, this isn\’t rite Magick. Manifestation is entirely based on what feels right to the caster. The barrier will remain as long as you occasionally feed it by acknowledging it and focusing on it for a minute or so. Typically, a young practitioner\’s barrier fades after an hour or so. The barrier will also fail if you fear that something is going to break through. It\’s all about your will and by thinking that something can get through, you give it the power to get through. Remember, confidence is key.
