A common and simple ( and discreet ) form of Magick is Candle Magick. It is such a wide spread form of Magick that even Catholicism still practices it. The process is fairly straight forward.
Choose a candle that is colored to match the type of energy you are going to conjure. Anoint the candle, often with oil or smoke. Charge the candle with energy and intention. Some witches choose to carve a relevant word into the side of the candle. Place the candle somewhere safe and sacred. The altar is ideal but you can use the kitchen counter if you need to. Whatever space you use should be cleansed, both physically and spiritually before placing the candle. Nothing else should be in the space, aside from relevant objects that may help focus the energy conjured. Once everything is ready, place the candle in the chosen space. With your right hand on the candle, focus on what you are trying to achieve with this Magick. Let your energy flow into the candle and the sacred space. If you feel it necessary, call your core. Once you feel the space is charged and your intention has been focused, light the candle. Leave the candle to burn until it burns out naturally. Again, I can\’t stress enough that it needs to be a safe space where nothing will fall on the candle or tip the candle over. Candle Magick is a foolish way to burn your house down.
That\’s it. It\’s that easy. The only part they may be hard to remember is which color candle to use for which type of Magick. I\’ll give you a quick rundown here, but Magick is subjective, so do what feels right to you.
White: This is your run-of-the-mill, all-purpose candle. It can be used for anything but it excels at protective spells. It can be used for giving blessings of aid or good will. It can be excellent for removing hexes or banishing negative entities, though candle Magick alone is most-likely not going to be enough for a banishing or exorcism.
Blue: These are great for healing Magick. They can be used for peace, protection against other witches, and bringing opportunities for change as well.
Green: A green candle can be used for slower, more long term healing. They can be used for protection from illness. Green candles are great for fostering friendships and learning new things. Their most potent use, however, is for prosperity. To be clear, there is a common misconception that Prosperity Magick is Give Me Money Magick. That\’s not it. Prosperity Magick is about ensuring your needs are met and that you have contentment.
Yellow: Yellow candles are great for blessings before a big trip. They are useful for divination. They can be used for detecting magickal workings around you.
Purple: This is by far the best candle to use for psychic senses. It can be used for developing or advancing your spiritual intuition. They can be used to call for prophetic dreams. They are also useful for bridging dimensions, creating an area in which the veil is thin.
Red: Red candles are used for bravery, discipline, and the ability to withstand temptation. They are great for gearing up before a daunting task. These are considered the warrior\’s candle.
Pink: pink candles can be used for calming anger and finding peace. They can also be used to find or strengthen love. A pink candle can be used to intertwine the fate of two or more friends.
Black: Here it is. The one we\’ve been waiting for. The black candle. … You can forget the stigma, black candles don\’t equal evil Magick. Black candles can be used for communing with the dead, or just give them reverence. They are used to consecrate a space that will be used solely for Magick. They can be used to give a boost to other spellwork. They are powerful for identifying and casting out negative energy and entities. Black candles are especially useful for ritually anointing a new tool or altar.
