Most people who have ever been into the paranormal have heard of Shadow People at some point. You may have never seen a Shadow Person ( or you may have just had your eyes play tricks on you ) but if you have seen shadow people, it was likely unforgettable.
There\’s something about these encounters that make time slow down and everything seems crystal clear for a moment, like you\’re going through a bout of hyper-alertness. Real, goosebump causing encounters with Shadow People seem undeniably vivid.
What is a Shadow Person? A Shadow Person is a humanoid figure that appears to be made of shadow, like a black hole in human form. Sometimes they are smokey and slightly translucent and sometimes they are completely opaque. They tend to be slightly elongated, like a tall thin person, and sometimes they have been described as having red eyes.
Oh. You meant like what are they? Well, the jury is still out on that one. Some say they are just a different type of ghost. Some say they are a demon or an alien. Alot of people even think they are interdimensional time-travelers. I can\’t tell you with any kind of authority what they are for sure, but I can tell you what they draw some comparisons with.
During the time I spent working together with other pagans, I carved out a niche for myself as a bit of a cataloguer. Since I had been self-taught for so long, I studied relentlessly. I read and obsessed over centuries of lore and legends, sightings and folk tales from all over the world. I noticed trends and correlations. I started documenting my findings and keeping track of my research.
One of the types of beings that I had come across was a type of entity called a Shade. A Shade was not exactly a spirit, as it had never been human, but it also wasn\’t what you would call a demon. Shades are malevolent, dark ghostly beings most commonly documented by early Germanic and Slavic people that feed off of emotional energy, favoring the intense energy produced by sorrow and hopelessness. The Shades were most frequently seen in places that had been host to multiple tragedies, suicides especially. Physically, Shades are often described as being tall, slender humanoids that appear as shadows. Some sightings described their movements in a similar manner to what we today call tracers. This, in my opinion, would give the illusion of smokey edges. A few of the more startling accounts of Shades described their eyes as being \”dark embers\”.
It is my opinion, based on the experiences I have had with Shadow People and the places where I have seen them or had sightings reported, that Shadow People are Shades. I\’ve had encounters with one entity that I knew was a Shade and I\’ve had encounters with Shadow People and I truly believe they were the same type of beings.
So I said that Shades are malevolent but I didn\’t back that up with any examples of how they cause harm. Let me fill in the gaps.
Shades feed off of despair. Shades also have the ability to communicate through dreamstate and to influence thoughts. Shades will use those capabilities to find, foster, and enforce feelings of doubt and impotence. They will take people to the darkest, most painful parts of their minds, and keep them there. They will destroy your confidence and make you feel like a waste. Those powerful emotions seep out a specific type of energy that feeds Shades.
Often, when seeing Shadow People, you don\’t experience any of these feelings. Those are also the times that you just catch a glimpse. They aren\’t hunting you. When they are, that\’s when they will come to you directly, often when you are fatigued. They look for people who are already feeling those broken emotions and they turn the screws. That\’s why most sightings of Shadow People are vivid but not overly scary in feeling.
Again, I can\’t speak with any authority, but this is what my best guess is for identifying Shadow People.
